Wade Byrnes
Senior Physiotherapist
About
Locally born and bred, Wade had a love of all things sport, in his mind a desk job was never going to be an option! After more than a decade in the big smoke of Sydney and London, he returned to the surf coast in 2014 and has been seen running on the trails from Juc to Bells ever since. He is also a frequent park runner with his young family. He and his wife dream of repeating their 4 month cycle trip from France to Turkey once their three kids can carry their own tent!
Experience
Wade is a highly experienced titled musculoskeletal physiotherapist, one of just a few in the Geelong region. He completed his Physiotherapy degree at the University of Sydney in 2008, followed by his musculoskeletal masters at The University of Queensland in Brisbane in 2017.
Wade spent several years working as a musculoskeletal and emergency physiotherapist in Sydney before heading over to London. While in the UK, Wade worked with elite sportsmen and women from the English Premier League clubs, Olympic gymnasts, and national rugby players, largely focused on ankle, knee, and shoulder rehabilitation post-surgery.
Since moving back to Australia, Wade has worked for Tennis Australia and is one of the four physiotherapists for the men at the Australian Open. He also spent several years as a lecturer and tutor teaching bio-mechanics and rehabilitation at Victoria University.
As with all of our practitioners at Marna, research and professional development is a high priority. Wade continues to assist The University of Melbourne, and LaTrobe University with their current projects.
